In 2008 after a 10 month investigation, Hamilton County Sheriff Billy Long was arrested on federal charges ranging from drug trafficking & money laundering to extortion. The arrest of Sheriff Long exposed major corruption among law enforcement in Hamilton County.
This was only the beginning of a timeline of events that followed. FBI began a 2nd investigation in 2009 in an attempt to supposedly take drugs & guns off the streets of Chattanooga, TN by targeting who they assumed to be the so-called “major players”. 4 years later in November 2013, 32 men in Tennessee & Georgia were indicted on federal drugs & weapons charges. The 32 men indicted were profiled for months to come as the “Worst Of The Worst”, which many thought was racial profiling & defamation of character.
